- My mother had a radical mastectomy in 1963 2 months after I was born. she just turned 91 last June. I recently had a scare, when I was called back for a digital comp screening &US on my right breast. the test was neg., but terrifying. I thought about all the women with a positive test & wondered how I could help calm their fears and support them. I know I haven't had the disease, but I know the fear.
